Lindsey Gray
Director, The Council of State Governments Southern Office
I am honored and excited to be in my third year as the CSG South Regional Director. These past few years, I have encountered team members, legislators, and government staff committed to their service roles and the mission of The Council of State Governments Southern region. When I accepted the Regional Director role, I was seeking a commitment – a commitment to an organizational mission, a commitment to a team of professionals, and a commitment to other leaders that care just like we care. I found it!
To know the South is to know we are resilient! We will always unite to find a way. Still, I believe this is one of the most significant times in the history of the CSG South to be the conduit for increased dialogue, collaboration, and assembly. Gathering with colleagues from across the region and sharing knowledge always brings a hopeful spirit – this is why we are known for our Southern potlucks. Gathering and sharing generates a hopeful spirit and can produce a bounty of outcomes. The CSG Southern office will continue to be a member-centered organization; having this approach at the forefront of our mission guides our decision-making and accountability in our region.
The Council of State Governments Southern region is historically a substantial region with deep participation, so my goal is to keep this legacy of strength going. We will continue growing our ability to provide nonpartisan policy analysis and research and leadership programs to our members. We will continue facilitating learning experiences through our Annual Meetings and partnerships that center around elevating our 15 member states. We will continue to fulfill our promise to serve as the premier public policy forum for Southern state governments, facilitating unparalleled opportunities for networking, discussion, and collaboration that lead to bright innovations and strategic solutions.
And, we promise to add value on a personal and professional level through tailored experiences and programs. Our 79th Annual Southern Legislative Conference in Birmingham, Alabama from July 19-23, 2025, will bring substantive policy discussions and continue to provide an environment of fellowship that is so integral to the fabric of CSG South.
Thank you for your continued support.
